Purpose
Bryant University is committed to promoting sustainability and reducing the environmental impact of campus operations. The installation of ChargePoint Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations is a key initiative in support of these efforts. The objective of this policy is to provide guidelines for the use, maintenance, and responsible operation of the EV charging stations located across the Bryant University campus.

This policy applies to all students, faculty, staff, and authorized visitors who utilize the ChargePoint EV Charging Stations on Bryant University’s campus. It includes the locations, eligibility, fees, terms of use, and maintenance of the stations.

Charging Station Locations
- Designated Charging Areas: The ChargePoint EV Charging Stations are located at the following campus locations:
- 3 units (6 ports) in Lot F
- 3 units (6 ports) at ground level of BELC garage
- 2 units (4 ports) at Puishys Residence Complex (Student Residents only)
- Additional Locations: Campus Facilities Management has 2 units (4 ports) that are reserved for campus vehicles only. One behind the Unistructure bldg. and one at The Campus Facilities Building.
Charging Station Locations
Eligibility and Access
- Eligible Users: The ChargePoint EV Charging Stations are available to all students, faculty, staff, and authorized visitors who own an electric vehicle and are registered with ChargePoint. Students are encouraged to use the Puishys Residence Complex stations M-F 6am-6pm so as not to conflict with faculty and staff usage.
- Registration: Users must register for a ChargePoint account (via the ChargePoint app or website) to access and use the charging stations. This registration will include a user profile and payment method for charging services.
Note: Users who do not have a ChargePoint account can register online or via the ChargePoint mobile app. Bryant University’s EV stations are compatible with ChargePoint’s network. - Access Hours: The EV stations are available 24/7, with the exception of periods when maintenance is being conducted, and during lot closures for projects or events.

Fees and Payment
- Charging Fees: Charging fees are assessed by ChargePoint and are subject to change based on the rate set by the university and ChargePoint. Fees may be calculated either on a per-minute, per-session, or per-kWh (kilowatt-hour) basis.
RATES:- .30 per KWH (Max 4 hrs.)
- + 5.00 per hour after 4 hours (idle fee)
- Payment Methods: Payment for charging services will be processed through the ChargePoint mobile app or a ChargePoint card linked to the user’s account. Bryant University may also offer the option to charge through a campus card or other payment systems.

Terms of Use
- Time Limitations: Users are encouraged to unplug their vehicle once it has reached full charge to allow other users access to the stations.
- Time limits 3 hr. per session to ensure equitable access.
- Parking Restrictions: Only electric vehicles are allowed to park in designated EV charging spots. Vehicles parked in these spaces without charging will be subject to penalties as outlined by the university's parking policy.
- Vehicle Charging Responsibility: Users are responsible for monitoring their vehicle during charging. Unattended vehicles must be unplugged once the battery is fully charged to ensure the charging station is available for other users.
- No Idle Parking: Vehicles that are fully charged but not unplugged will be subject to a parking fine or may be required to relocate at the discretion of DPS.

Maintenance and Customer Support
- Maintenance Responsibility: ChargePoint is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the EV charging stations. However, Bryant University’s Facilities Dept. will collaborate with ChargePoint for any necessary on-site support.
- Troubleshooting: In case of any malfunction, users should report the issue to ChargePoint directly via the app or website. For immediate assistance on campus, users can contact Bryant Facilities Dept. during business hours. Outside of regular business hours (M-F 8:30am-4:30pm), contact DPS.
- Out-of-Service Stations: If a charging station is out of service for maintenance, alternative locations will be available for charging (See Map)
Maintenance and Customer Support
Safety and Liability
- User Safety: Users are expected to follow all safety guidelines posted at the charging station and within the ChargePoint app. For instance, users should never attempt to repair the charging equipment themselves and should report any hazards immediately.
- Liability: Bryant University is not responsible for any damage to electric vehicles during the charging process. Users agree to use the charging stations at their own risk.
- Environmental Considerations: In line with Bryant University’s sustainability goals, users are encouraged to minimize the environmental impact of their charging habits. ChargePoint stations will be powered by renewable energy wherever possible.

Policy Enforcement
- Violations: Failure to comply with the terms outlined in this policy may result in disciplinary action in accordance with Bryant University’s student or employee conduct policies. Additionally, parking violations and misuse of charging stations may result in fines and possible restrictions from use.
- Monitoring: The university reserves the right to monitor charging station usage to ensure compliance with this policy and assess future infrastructure needs.
